Amiee Pollard

My name is Amiee Pollard and I am 15 yrs old. I currently compete and train for Shitokai Scotland and the Scotland National Team in my chosen sport of Karate.
I have just returned from representing Scotland at the U21 European Championships which was held in Bulgaria on the 17 February 2017 returning home with a bronze medal. It is a dream come true to be selected and I am very proud to represent my country at such a prestigious event.

Karate is one of the most popular sports in the world and has just been selected as an Olympic sport for the Youth Olympics in 2018 and Tokyo 2020/2024 games. As a result all training and competition costs fall onto my parents, fund raising efforts within my club and the kindness of individual sponsors like yourself.

I am currently ranked 3rd in the World Karate Rankings and domestically I have had great success in 2016 winning all four major UK titles becoming British International Open, British 4 Nations, Scottish International Open and Scottish National Champion in Kumite.

I have been accepted on to the Olympic Athlete Talent Identification Programme for inclusion for the GB squad selection for the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024. As Karate is now included in the Youth Olympics next year in Argentina I will aim for selections to compete at this.
