Glasgow roller derby

We are an all female Roller derby league in Glasgow Scotland

We are Scotland's first roller derby league estabilshed in 2007. Currently we have approximately 60 skaters playing for our 2 travel teams the A team the Irn Bruisers and the B team the maiden Grrders as well as four intraleague home teams which are made up of all the skaters in the league. Both our travel teams compete within Britain and internationally with our A team having traveled to America 3 times and having competed at the WFTDA division 1 playoffs in 2015.

Along side this we run Glasgow roller recruits where anyone who wishes to learn roller derby can sign up to a course lead by our team of coaches where they will learn all the skills necessary to play roller derby. An assessment of skating skill is necessary to join the league training for safety reason and the skills assessments are run periodically throughout this course. One a skater has met the necessary safety standards they are eligible to train with the full league.

The sport is entirely grass roots and members of the league run our PR, sponsorship, events, well being, training, merchandise, web and design. All the money we make from selling merchandise or from running events and fundraising is directly put back into the club to pay for uniforms and travel as well as training venue hire.

As part of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association we are run by the skater for the skater with members having an equal say in how the club is run and the decisions made by the club.
