SYC Ultimate

Founded in 2010, SYC (pronounced “sick”) is an elite London-based women’s Ultimate Frisbee club team. SYC was formed with the aim of developing strong female athletes who could, together, compete on the highest stage in Ultimate Frisbee. Narrowly missing out on a spot at the World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC) in 2014, we have finally achieved our goal, qualifying for the tournament during the 2017 season. This year is set to be our most exciting season yet, as we will be heading to Cincinnati, Ohio in July for WUCC 2018!

SYC’s motto “Don’t be good, be SYC” has not changed since our founding. We continue to be a group of hardworking, dedicated, and athletic women.
This year, we have a team with a wide range of playing experience, from three to twelve years. All of our players voluntarily invest into the club outside of a working life. We train twice weekly on Clapham Common and attend tournaments both domestically and internationally. Outside of training, every player is expected to complement the sessions with weekly strength and conditioning sessions and track workouts.

Over SYC’s 7 short years we have supported and coached our athletes to the level where many have had the honour of competing for Great Britain (20 athletes competing for their country).

As well as individual successes, we have worked hard to establish our reputation as one of the UK’s premier teams. Our most recent achievements include:
• UK Ultimate Tour Champions (2017)
• 2nd place at the UK Ultimate National Championships (2017)
• 8th place at the European Club Championships (2017)
• 3rd place at the UK Ultimate National Championships (2016)
• 9th place at the European Club Championships (2016)
