I'm Sami Majid, aged 34, an insane cricket enthusiast who played cricket in Saudi Arabia until 2009 with camels as spectators in the deserts. I started playing cricket in the UK with Wimbledon CC in Surrey for the initial four years and then moved on to Old Wimbledonians CC. I have extensive volunteering experience in coaching and have been involved in the Colts section for the past 10 years, which has 300+ boys and 50+ girls.

I have also played extensive indoor cricket and have substantial personal and cricket connections across the country, as we used to play in London. Notts, Birmingham and Derby etc. (www.actionindoorcricketengland.com).

I was most recently the second team captain, starting in 2020. In my first year as captain, I promoted my team to Division 3 from Division 4 (2021) in the Surrey Championship. Our 1's are Division 1 of the Surrey Championship, which is highly competitive. I've personally played against players who have gone on to be in the National South African team, such as Clyde Fortuin (Cranleigh) and Sarel Erwee, whom I played against Weybridge in the national T20 cup.

I've given up 2's captaincy to focus more on volunteering as a coach as I can give more time to the Colts. Plus, I will be back in the first team this season as I felt that I've still got to give a lot more, and my fitness levels have shot up with attending regular fitness boot camps over the winter (Barry's UK).

I'm also highly visible in the Wandering Teams cricket circuit, playing for Emeriti CC. I play for Emeriti CC, which is highly connected to prestigious fixtures nationwide. Such as private schools (Ampleforth College, St Benedict's School, The Oratory School & Old Georgians) Plius (Royal Household Windsor, The Nevill Tunbridge Wells, Arundel Castle Sussex & Honourable Artillery Company (Moorgate). Played against some fantastic players who are pro in different clubs across the UK plus potential international players. I've also played with for a year young west indian keeper-batsman, Joshua De Silva, a very close friend who played for us at OWCC.
