Birmingham Lions Womens American Football

Established in January 2014, Birmingham Lions Women are the most successful women’s American Football team in the United Kingdom. The Lions’ programme offers a taste of one of the country’s fastest growing sports for women, offering the very best coaching, support, facilities and atmosphere.

The programme’s aims are simple:
• to ensure players have fun, safely;
• to develop individuals to the best of their ability, and
• to ensure all players understand what it means to #BeALion

We offer an inclusive and welcoming environment to women of all ages and backgrounds; offering them a chance to try a new sport; make great friends; experience high quality coaching and improve health and well-being.

The sport is still relatively niche in this country with the women’s game being somewhat behind the men’s game in terms of participation and league structure. In 2023, the league finally expanded to a larger team structure with national participation. This is a great opportunity to expand the reach of the sport. However this comes with significantly increased costs for us as a team and greater requirements in terms of squad size, game hosting and travel.

Birmingham Lions Women are looking for sponsorship partners, to enter into a mutually beneficial arrangement to raise the profile of the team and our sponsors, increase opportunities for women and girls to take part in American Football, and ensure financial security for the team.
