Solent Softball League
We are a recreational slow-pitch softball league (originally formed in 1995) which is made up of teams from around Hampshire & West Sussex. The league is currently entering it's 20th season with twelve local sports clubs all looking to enjoy a summer of good softball and maybe win the leagues divisional championships.
The league currently has twelve local clubs split into two divisions (B & C grade) and all of them are looking to enjoy a summer of fun games whilst competing to win their respective divisional championships.
Outdoor league games and practice sessions are played at several venues around the region:
PORTSMOUTH = Tangier Field, Tangier Road, Baffins, PO36PZ.
CHICHESTER = Oaklands Park, Wellingston Road, PO196AP.
HURSLEY = IBM campus, Hursley Park Road, SO212JN.
EASTLEIGH = Wide Lane Sports Ground, Wide Lane, SO505PE.
SOUTHAMPTON = The Outdoor Sports Centre, Thornhill Road, Bassett, Southampton, SO16 7AY.
There are regular league social events organised throughout the year including the annual family picnic day, charity quiz nights and the lavish end of season awards party. As well as these events, each of the sports clubs organise their own team social nights as well! Many of the games & practice sessions tend to finish with a BBQ or a drink in the local pub. The league and its clubs contain a varied mixture of ages and abilities with players coming from all walks of life, which in turn helps to make it a very social kind of sport. The emphasis is very much on getting everyone taking part and having fun (we're not just looking for the fastest runners or the biggest hitters – anyone and everyone is welcome to play!)
