World Club Basketball Tournament

Bexhill Giants Basketball Club based in East Sussex , England host the inagural ' World Club Basketball Tournament'. The event is being staged for Men,s teams to play overseas competition of a high level and promote basketball and raise the profile in the UK.

Since 2013 the Giants have welcomed teams from Canada and USA to Bexhill to compete in the 3 international tournaments we hosted , and as a result our reputation and exposure has grown worldwide as one of the best host organisations .

As a result it seemed the logical step to open our next event to teams from across the world. So far we have seen entries from Canada ,Turkey, France , USA , England and Wales.

Bexhill on Sea is in the south of England, East Sussex 30 miles from Gatwick Airport, 5 miles from Hastings, and 25 miles from Brighton.

The FIBA endorsed tournament is open to Men’s over 18 teams, and they must be registered with their relevant association during the 2014/15 season along. Players should also be registered with their relevant association.

Any teams travelling from overseas should arrange their own travel and sports injury insurance.

The tournament format will consist of two groups of five or 6 teams depending on the number of entries with the top two from each group progressing to the quarter finals, semi-finals then finals.

There will be a dunk contest, merchandise, cheerleaders and a film crew on hand to film the event for worldwide syndicated media outlets.

Medals and trophies will be available for winners, runners up and MVP.

Each team will play a minimum of four matches 2 x 18 minutes halves, the matches will be played over two days on the Saturday and Sunday.

With teams arriving on the Friday for the opening ceremony and registration if they are able to. Alternatively depending on the schedule and travel arrangements teams can arrive on the Saturday no later than 9.30am.

Matches will be played from 11am until 7pm on the Saturday and until 6pm on the Sunday.

Accommodation will be available at a low cost for the Friday and Saturday evening with a social event and meal for all players on the Saturday evening.

Transportation can also be arranged to and from the venue if required.

The event is a two-day tournament and the cost is £150 per team with a £50 deposit to reserve the teams place in the event to be paid on completion of the application form. This price does not include accommodation and travel, accommodation details will be sent separately but were are planning to use Coombe Haven Holiday Park in St Leonards on Sea. Each static holiday home can accommodate 6 people for the two nights at approximately £185 in total.

The event will feature USA Basketball Select as part of their European exposure tour and the Great Britain Police team as well other European teams from Turkey and France, and will also be filmed for local and overseas TV and social media outlets.

The matches will be played on Friday 11th & Saturday 12th September 2015,and teams will registering on Friday the 10th September or Saturday 11th by 9.30am. The first match will be start at 10:30am.
