Cardiff Volleyball Club
Cardiff Volleyball Club is a long-established, volunteer-run community club offering affordable access to the inclusive yet underfunded sport of volleyball. Founded in 1979 with just one women’s team, we now support over 300 members across 10 competitive men’s, women’s and junior teams, including two in the National Volleyball League in addition to two beginner and development groups.
Our biggest challenge is venue hire. With a shortage of affordable sports halls in Cardiff, we’re struggling to accommodate demand despite having enough volunteer coaches and players eager to create new teams. We also currently have a waitlist of people who want to join, but without additional funding, we simply cannot expand.
We are committed to keeping membership fees as low as possible so that people from disadvantaged or underrepresented communities can take part in a welcoming and diverse sport. Funding would directly help us secure more court time, reduce financial barriers to entry, and offer more opportunities for people of all backgrounds to play, train, and grow in volleyball all while building a sense of community through sport.
